A Man Named Kim?!?
In 1901, Nobel Prize-winning English author, Rudyard Kipling’s book, Kim, was published. 57 years later, Claudia Elizabeth Williams was reading that book while pregnant with her third child. The story tells of an orphan Indian/English child named Kim – and refers to the meaning of his name as 'Friend of the World.' She chose to name her son, Kim.
Some years and countless "What? Kim is a girl's name" comments later...this is what you get...a Man Named Kim
As a child, I wanted to be an actor when I grew up. Raised in Myrtle Beach, SC and working in the family business of motel management, I honed my dream by spending much of my early years “acting” as if I was not surrounded by sand fleas, eager tourists, and aging beach bums.
After leaving Myrtle Beach to pursue a BA in religious studies at Wofford College and a Master of Divinity Degree at Southeastern Seminary, this man named Kim spent 15 years as a pastor. I left the pulpit in 1999 (long story....so long I wrote a book about it) and discovered a passion for sales, which I often describe as "the art of helping people get what they want, in spite of themselves"—which, if you think about it, isn't that big of a career leap. Since 1999 I have had successful sales and marketing roles in the business world.
I can claim the label of a former adjunct faculty member at Queens University and Central Piedmont Community College and I've been a guest lecturer at Wofford College (Go Terriers!), Wake Forest University, Forsyth Technical Community College, and Elon University.
My other labels include marketer, husband, author, father, grandfather, recovering person (est. 1999), and serial dog owner – In short, I believe that who we become starts with what we believe, and what we believe is created by what we do every day.

A PERSONAL INVITATION FROM THE AUTHOR
Let me begin by saying I had the privilege of standing in the pulpit on a weekly basis for more than 15 years. That privilege was a great gift. People would allow me to stand before them and talk about the most significant things in their lives. It was always an honor to preach and I am ever aware of the painful loss of that privilege - even though that defrocking was exactly what I needed.
This book grew out of what I discovered in my 'fall' from the pulpit. It occurred to me that there might just be a few things I wish I'd said from the pulpit - here they are. You will be challenged to hear some things in different ways, in ways that might even make you steaming, righteous mad. Sound fun?
WISHFUL PREACHING - REVIEWS ARE IN!
"Fresh Insight, Humor, and Inspiration..."
"This is the "un-preaching" book that moves beyond Sunday sermons into thoughtful but witty bite-sized "YES!" moments. Yes, you'll think "Why doesn't MY pastor talk about this?" and that's the point - most don't...
"This book is different, and quite often delightful. Who could fail to sport at least a wry smile at the writer's then-four-year-old nephew as he offers his very own spin on saying grace: "God is grape, God is good. Let us spank him for our food"?...
