Singularly Tattooed

In the world of body art, I stand among the minority.  I am told that there are fewer people on this planet with 1 tattoo than there are people with none and multiples.

I have just the one, and one day - if you are really lucky - I'll tell you my "the day I got my tattoo" story... maybe.

Do you have a tattoo? Tattoos?

Quoting

Sometimes people are layered like that. There's something totally different underneath than what's on the surface. But sometimes, there's a third, even deeper level, and that one is the same as the top surface one. Like with pie.

Feeling Safe

Feel Safe

i just want to feel
safe
not from crime
or hate
i just want to feel
safe
not from war
or alarm
i just want to feel
safe
not from winter
or disease
i just want to feel
safe
from me, with you.

Declaration of Independence Wordle via Rick Klau

A recent visit over to Rick Klau's blog uncovered an interesting info graphic. A wordle is a visual representation of text or topic content. The idea is that the more common and important topics/words are seen in greater emphasis than the lesser themes.

Rick ran a Wordle on the Declaration of Independence. Click the photo to see.

God Is A Flirt

There is  always more. In each combination, a savoring nuance blended from that moments ingredients.  And, did you hear that,  that unknown laugh? It makes me smile. Who is that? Even in the mundane, methodical rhythm of walking we stumble on the euphoria of an additional mile, an amalgamation of chemical euphoria and spiritual caresses - as if we should have been here all along.  There seems to be more, always. More to know, feel, grasp, share...

God is such a flirt.

You know you're getting old when...

It seems I'm having more and more conversations lately that begin with "I remember when...."

The latest vivid memory is of Major Matt Mason - Man in Space. I spent hours upon hours playing in the back yard with these toys, imagining space aliens, explosions and victories over evil monsters. Even with the occasional interruption to "wash-up for dinner," my days were all the time all the way Major Matt Mason!

Repost - in my hands

in my hands

his
gentle and small
wonder and delight
an ebbing of laughter and stress
in my hands

hers
the future rests
tasks to be learned
suprises of nature and mind

in my hands
a bundle of memories
my daughter's squirming
my son's gentle dreams of sleep
in my hands

mine
empty now
full of possiblities
grasping for the next embrace

offered
to my hands

A Poem about Renewal

Renewal

frozen limbs bound in fear
eyes too dry for anymore tears
my heart lies latent in my chest
hoping, longing for endless rest

where are the dreams of days gone by
was it all some cruel perverted lie
can i move from this coffin skin
will my iced soul ever live again?

pain within, pain without
too parched my voice to release a shout
all that moves in this locked cage
is the glimmer of fire known as rage

where are the dreams of days gone by
was it all some cruel perverted lie
can i move from this coffin skin
will my iced soul ever live again?

explosion within, shattering these bonds
screams of life, demanding a new dawn
i will live, this day again will be
found zeal for life for i've been freed

here are the dreams of today my friends
laughter and wonder as this drama ascends
playing a part, living again
freed for the journey, ever to begin

freed for the journey, freed for this quest
living again to discover the rest
Truth's guided quest, a path of delight
ever onward, strive for the light

here are the dreams of today my friends
laughter and wonder as this drama ascends
playing a part, living again
freed for the journey, ever to begin

Getting Down Uptown

We are fortunate that our city has multiple outdoor music events uptown during the summer months. Last weekend my wife and I attended one of the Summer on Trade events. We had a good time, but the little guy below was hands-down having the best time of us all.
